Who should attend?
Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the UK’s biggest killers, and yet statistics show that most of the British public are unaware of the life-saving difference they can make by performing CPR and defibrillation. This course is ideal for any member of the public who would like to learn lifesaving skills to help administer CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator in the event of someone suffering a cardiac arrest.
The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF) qualification has been designed to provide candidates with the skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective basic life support and use an AED safely in emergency situations. This is an Ofqual regulated course and certificates are valid for 1 year.

Chain of survival
Assessing an incident
Managing an unresponsive casualty
AED safety considerations
Using an AED
Combining AED use with CPR
Using an AED on a child
Procedures for when Emergency Services arrive
No previous First Aid knowledge is required to attend this course. Due to the course content learners should be able to deal with stressful situations. If this course is delivered in-house the organisation are responsible for assessing the suitability of learners to carry out this role.
Assessment will be practical via observations carried out by the course trainer.
