Who should attend?
This is the perfect qualification for those who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide basic life support for adults and children. It is also ideal for qualified first aiders who are looking to refresh their knowledge and practise the latest basic life support techniques.
The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults and Children (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed to equip candidates with the essential skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective basic life support in an emergency situation. This is an Ofqual regulated course and certificates are valid for 1 year.

Managing an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
Recognising when to commence CPR and defibrillation
Adult CPR and defibrillation
Child CPR and defibrillation
Infant CPR and defibrillation

Assessing levels of consciousness
Opening the airway
Checking the breathing
Recognising the signs of choking
Choking treatment for adults, children and infants
No previous First Aid knowledge is required to attend this course. Learners should be able to complete the physical activity of administering CPR. Due to the course content learners should be able to deal with stressful situations. If this course is delivered in-house the organisation are responsible for assessing the suitability of learners to carry out this role in the workplace.
Assessment will be practical via observations carried out by the course trainer.
