Level 2 Award CitizenAID (RQF)
Who should attend?
This qualification is designed to empower the public to take action and save lives in the event of mass casualties. This course is ideal for any member of the public who would like to learn lifesaving skills to help deal with a mass casualty situation.
The citizenAID course has been specifically developed to help members of the public learn life-saving skills for use in extreme situations. Based on the citizenAID phone App and pocket guide, this regulated qualification is designed to teach people how to react safely, prioritise the injured and give first aid to victims in the event of a deliberate multiple casualty incident. This is an Ofqual regulated course and certificates are valid for 3 years.
Length of Course:
What we cover on this First Aid course
Determining the appropriate actions to take in the following events, using the citizenAID App or pocket guide:
Knife attacker or active shooter
Reporting the incident to the emergency services
Prioritising multiple casualties
Providing sufficient information when the emergency services arrive
Dealing with an unresponsive casualty who is breathing:
Opening the airways
Controlling severe external bleeding:
Applying manufactured and improvised tourniquets
Using improvised and manufactured dressings to pack wounds
No previous First Aid knowledge is required to attend this course. Due to the course content learners should be able to deal with stressful situations. If this course is delivered in-house the organisation are responsible for assessing the suitability of learners to carry out this role.
Assessment will be practical via observations carried out by the course trainer.
